Territorial Approaches: Rural-urban linkages and inclusive rural transformation

The universality and interdependence among the goals requires approaches that address the diversity of people and resources and are based on vertical and horizontal integration. Moreover, the approaches should be characterized by the territory within which they are being implemented. The ongoing processes of rural transformation, migration and rapid urbanisation pose new challenges and opportunities to existing approaches to food security and nutrition. Territorial approaches seek to strengthen agriculture, food security and nutrition policies, and increase the ownership from local communities and ensure dissemination of benefits to all areas, rural and urban.
